Base unit description and operations.
* On top of the base unit are two buttons, volume and power. Press and hold power till the screen lights
* On the right hand side is a sim and storage card drawer, you can use the small tool supplied to open,
* Swipe screen down to select wifi and connect your router or phone hotspot. Alternatively insert a nano sim card for internet connectivity
You can also power off/restart the base unit here or just hold power button for a few seconds
* Note: You may also make phone calls and send text messages with sim installed.
* Click on the RED boating app on Homescreen for the navigation program.
* Swipe screen up for any Apps installed.
* The symbols on screen bottom are Triangle, ‘Back’. Circle, ‘Clear screen’ Square. ‘Shrink screen’ and swipe right or left for previous opened screens
Chart plotter operation
* Bottom right of screen, symbol for showing your current location at screen centre.
* You WILL have to go outside first to find satelites. Do this as soon as you have the program running.
* If having trouble with ‘Location’ go to settings/location and check selected apps (Boating) are on for location.
* Top left, Autofollow. Click to indicate course, course + speed will appear at bottom left of screen, direction arrows will appear as vessel moves.
* Below ‘Autofollow’ is a red and green icon, click to download charts, click a square, blue. ready for download, green, already downloaded.
* Top menu, black circle, record your trip.
* Route manager, create new route and waypoints by touch screen or moving map to centre cursor.
* You may also set ‘Auto route’
Open the drop down menu (3 dots, top right) to select Auto route
Indicate start and finish, enter a safe depth and course will automatically appear including course changes all the way to your destination. It will allow for passage away from hazards and if heading to a location in a harbour, will allow for nav markers etc.
* Distance. Drag line to two spots on the chart
* Get current wind, waves, temp and air pressure, click on any part of the weather chart to get current readings, Time line at top changes to forcast 3 hourly weather changes for up to 3 days (plotter needs to be online)
* Three vertical dots top right, drop down menu/settings, try the settings to set metric or feet etc. On main menu you can setup up AIS.
* To activate AIS go to plotter tablet/settings/Wifi and find your AIS de-vice on the Wifi list,
Check your AIS manual for help. Your AIS must be using Protocol NMEA 0183.
When you find it on your wifi list. note the IP address
Example, 198.153.15.1 and look for dataport number, eg. 2987 and en-ter them to NMEA Instruments Set Up on plotter menu. Then click Start NMEA/AIS,
Vessels will appear, click on any vessel to find info on them. (Great when buddy sailing)
* To incorporate auto helm and other instruments using the Cruisr plotter, search and purchase online a wifi hub with NMEA 0183 protocol that can be connected to your instrument cables, instructions will come with the wifi hub device. You can then find the hub on your plotter/settings/wifi network and pair.
* Note: All older nav devices, wind, log, depth, autohelm etc. commumicated via NMEA 0183 protocol, newer instruments are now NMEA 2000. NMEA 2000 are not compatible with CRUISR.
